Public Health is the science and art of preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health through the organised efforts of society. The Master of Public Health builds on an excellent reputation for taught post graduate training in public health sciences. The education offered by the Master of Public Health aims to be relevant to a range of public health professionals and researchers, and to fulfil the knowledge and research training needs of those wishing to address the challenges of carrying out research in the public health field. The programme is designed for those who wish to gain an appreciation of how different disciplines can be used to structure enquiry and develop the knowledge base for research and professional practice in epidemiology, public health and social science, ethics and health.
We require a UK 2:1 or higher result, or its equivalent if outside the UK, including a full transcript. We consider both academic and work experience of applicants. Where applicable, an IELTS of 7.0 (with at least 6.5 in each section), or equivalent, is required. Two academic references and a short personal statement are also required. A majority of the assessments are essay-based rather than by examination. Being familiar with essay writing and structure is essential.
