  • DeadlineStudy Details:

MSC, PG DIP 3 years, 2 years

Course Description

Practising critical care at an advanced level is a demanding and challenging role. We’ll help you develop the skills and expertise you need to provide advanced critical care.

Alongside this, you’ll transform your existing professional qualifications into an MSc in Advanced Critical Care Practitioner (ACCP), which is based on the National Curriculum and syllabus for ACCP published by Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM). You’ll be able to join this course if have been registered with a professional regulatory body and have the legislation to prescribe (such as NMC, HCPC or GPhC).

You’ll learn alongside students with a particular interest in your chosen area of advanced practice. It’s a great opportunity to learn from each other. Together, you’ll explore and apply the current policies, laws and procedures that apply to advanced critical care practice. We’ll encourage you to delve into all areas of this field to extend your knowledge as much as possible.

You’ll not only strengthen your leadership and clinical decision-making skills, but also your ability to research, making effective use of evidence to support clinical practice. You’ll work with professionals from other disciplines which, together with the level of knowledge you’ll gain from our course, will empower you to develop others through teaching and education.

When it comes to work placements, you’ll need to already be employed as an Advanced Critical Care Practitioner (ACCP) trainee. Your manager should agree to provide you with the required supervision in your clinical area, as directed by the National Curriculum and syllabus for ACCP (FICM), who’ll support and nurture your clinical practice while also ensuring it can be fully assessed.

Please note ARU’s MSc Advanced Critical Care Practitioner is open to UK applicants only, as the availability of work placements in the UK health service is limited.
