Course Description

Whether your chosen career path involves curating, exhibiting, criticism, collecting, art journalism or any other route, by undertaking this course you will develop essential skills, expertise and experience. By studying the history of art through personal research and excellent tutorage you will engage in vigorous intellectual inquiry in the subject and delve deeply into your chosen specialism.

Writing in the Guardian, journalist Miles Brignall concluded that the twice-yearly MA Art History exhibitions at Aberystwyth are among the top four ‘pick of the shows’ UK-wide.  Aberystwyth was the only institution he selected outside London.

Entry Requirements

Good Undergraduate degree, 2.1, (UK) or above in a related subject. European and International applicants can find their grade equivalence on our website. Those who are not graduates must satisfy the University that they are of the required academic standard to pursue postgraduate study. 

Interested candidates will be invited for interview and are required to provide a copy of an undergraduate dissertation, extended essay or a published article, together with a statement of their specific area(s) of interest in art history. Successful interview candidates will then be invited to submit their application for the course.
