Join a pioneering postgraduate programme that explores how artificial intelligence is used in contemporary art, through collaboration and critical inquiry. Designed for graduates and professionals across the arts, design, media, and humanities, the programme enables learners to engage with AI as both a technical system and a collaborative presence, examining how human–machine relationships shape how art is made, credited, and valued. 

This programme challenges you to rethink the boundaries of AI, exploring the intersection of tech and creativity. You’ll take courses focused on the user experience of AI, studying creativity frameworks and combining theory and practice to put AI to work as a collaborator. Graduates go on to work in a wide range of high-growth industries, such as film, TV, music and culture in interactive design, production and animation.

Programme Structure

The online Artificial Intelligence and Creative Practice MSc/PGDip/PGCert features a career-centred curriculum that empowers students to rethink the boundaries of AI, exploring the intersection of tech and creativity. In this flexible programme, students can take breaks when needed and choose the exit pathway that best suits them:

  • Full masters (180 credits), 24 months
  • Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits), 15 months
  • Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits), 8 months

Entry Requirements

This programme is for graduates from arts, design, media or humanities disciplines who want to integrate artificial intelligence skills into their creative practice.

For entry, you are expected to hold a BA or BSc degree with a 2:1 or above in any subject.

No prior programming experience is required. The programme introduces coding and mathematics, starting at secondary schooling level and above. 

If you do not meet standard entry criteria, we may accept applications with a lower degree and significant work experience. Contact us to learn more.

If English is not your first language, you will need to supply an up-to-date English language test certificate. We accept IELTS certificates with an overall score of 6.5 and no less than 6.0 in any band. Alternative test certificates are also accepted, and exemptions can be made. The estimated total cost of this programme is £16,000 GBP for the full MSc. You can pay in full or in instalments. All costs are listed to help you make an informed decision.
