Our MSc Cancer Biology and Therapy prepares you for a rewarding career in biotechnology or healthcare. It also provides a strong foundation for further study.
You’ll develop practical and theoretical knowledge of the molecular, genetic, and biological processes behind cancer. The course focuses on advances in diagnosis and treatment.
Research themes include:
Analysis of phytochemicals for cancer treatment
Development and characterisation of novel drug delivery systems
Potential of aspirin analogues in the treatment of glioma
Use of aptamers as diagnostic and therapeutic agents for brain tumours
Synthesis of bioactive molecules with anticancer properties
A minimum of a lower second class honours degree from a UK university or its equivalent in a biological discipline, for example Biochemistry, Physiology, Biomedical Science OR A qualification or experience deemed to be equivalent to the above
International students should have an English language qualification IELTS at 6.0 (no individual mark lower than 5.5), TOEFL at 600 (paper) and 250 (CBE) with a TWE of 4
In most cases we will interview prior to offering a place on the programme
Those applicants seeking entry with appropriate experiences will be required to demonstrate the suitability of this experience both on application and at interview
Graduates of the MSc Cancer Biology and Therapy course have gone on to PhD research, working in industry and to further postgraduate study.
