Masters Degree Description

Designed for registered healthcare professionals involved or looking to work in teaching, training and supporting the learning of others in health and social care settings or higher education.

Entry Requirements

You should:

  • hold a BA (Hons) degree in a health-related subject or equivalent
  • be in employment, with access to learners in a healthcare practice or higher education setting, evidenced by an employer reference
  • hold a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check – responsibility for this lies with the employing organisation.
This course is open to UK, EU and International applicants.

English Foreign Language:
  • IELTS: 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in all components) within last 2 years or equivalent test OR
  • evidence (employer reference) of practicing for 1 year in a country where English is a majority spoken language (within the last 2 years).
You must also have:
  • access to an electronic device (tablet, laptop or PC) with a large enough screen to comfortably read and create documents, spreadsheets or presentations
  • access to a camera and microphone for some modules
  • a standard home internet connection
  • web browser compatibility with the virtual learning environment (VLE)
  • access through Chrome browser is recommended
  • access to Microsoft Office 365 documents such as Word or Excel (Teesside University can provide free or discounted copies of many software products including Office 365 if required).

Module Details

Assessment and Evaluation in Clinical Practice

Explore supervision models, coaching and mentorship in clinical education. Engage with the principles of academic assessment. There is a strong practice element where you apply relevant assessment methods in healthcare practice and academia. You are expected to critically evaluate your own and others’ clinical education practice and continue to demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning.

Learning and Teaching in Clinical Practice

Gain an introduction to current educational theories, research, and practices that underpin a range of online learning and teaching strategies. Engage with key internal and external drivers focused on teaching and learning, governance, leadership development and equality, diversity and inclusion within the higher education sector. A strong practice element allows you to design and deliver effective and inclusive learning events in healthcare practice or academia. You are expected to critically evaluate your own and others’ clinical education practice, and to demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning in this field.
