Course Description

Have ambitions to pursue a career in the fast-growing creative sector? Our MA Creative Enterprise: Communication Design programme combines leading academic expertise from the School of Arts and Communication Design and Henley Business School.

This course aims to enable you to gain the skills and knowledge needed to progress in entrepreneurial careers within start-ups and creative firms.

  • Develop strategic and creative thinking skills and learn to apply design thinking to business
  • Major themes include information design, service design, user experience and brand identity
  • Suited to those who wish to advance their career in the design industry
  • Modules in design practice, entrepreneurship, management and intellectual property

Entry Requirements

Normally a good undergraduate honours degree (2.1 or above), or equivalent from a university outside the UK, in a design-related subject. For exceptional candidates without such a degree, you will need convincing evidence of relevant professional experience. In most cases, a relevant practice portfolio and an example of academic writing are also required.

Student Destinations

Module Details

Two 60-credit modules offered by the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication Design:

  • Creative Enterprise: Reflective Practice (Communication Design)
  • Dissertation

Two compulsory 20-credit modules offered by the Henley Business School:

  • Management in Creative and Cultural Organisations
  • Entrepreneurial Management for Creative Artists

Two 10-credit modules offered by the School or Law and/or the Henley Business School. Sample modules include:

  • Financing for Entrepreneurship
  • Intellectual Property Law: Copyright and Designs
  • Intellectual Property Law: Patents and Trademarks
  • International and Comparative Intellectual Property Law
  • Internet Law
