MA Creative Writing Poetry

Course Description

Study poetry in an academic context, learning about form and technique, concept and theory, cause and effect. Write poetry of a publishable standard and receive expert guidance and insightful feedback, workshop in talented groups, developing your knowledge of this craft in a supportive, professional environment. Reading and writing poetry is at the core of this postgraduate degree, prompting you to explore your imaginative, artistic and intellectual capabilities.

Entry Requirements

Open to applicants with a good Honours degree – UK BA (Hons) 2:1 or equivalent. Admission is via submission of a portfolio of sample poetry for assessment. Please visit UEA’s website for complete details.

We welcome applications from students whose first language is not English. To ensure such students benefit from postgraduate study, we require evidence of proficiency in English. Our usual entry requirements are as follows:

 

  • IELTS: 7.0 (minimum 6.0 in each section and 7.0 in writing)
  • PTE (Pearson): 68 (minimum 55 in each section and 68 in writing)
