Masters Degree Description

We only offer this course through the Educational Psychology Funded Training (EPFT) scheme. Self-funded places are not available.

You can apply to the EPFT scheme through the Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP) website.

Applications to the EPFT scheme for entry in September 2026 will close on at 5pm (UK time) on Wednesday 29 October 2025.

This is a three-year, full-time course approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). It is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and recognised by the Department for Education as a professional training course in educational psychology.

All our graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the HCPC as a practitioner educational psychologist and join the British Psychological Society's Division of Educational and Child Psychology.

Module Details

This is a non-modular programme structured around five foundational principles:

Relationality: At the heart of the course is a commitment to fostering sensitive, reflective and collaborative relationships that shape both educational psychology practice and personal growth.
Collaboration: The programme nurtures a culture of co-production and shared learning among trainees, tutors, services and communities, valuing diverse experiences and systemic partnerships.
Critical Psychology: Trainees are encouraged to adopt a questioning stance, critically examining dominant discourses and power dynamics to develop socially aware and authentic professional identities.
Anti-oppressive Practice: The course promotes awareness of systemic inequalities and power imbalances, actively supporting equity, inclusion and social justice in all areas of educational psychology.
Sustainability: Through an eco-systemic lens, the course advocates for educational practices that support long-term wellbeing, ethical responsibility and inclusive development across the lifespan.
