MSc Electronic and Electrical Engineering MSc(Eng)

  • DeadlineStudy Details: 1 year

Masters Degree Description

Electronic and electrical engineering is a dynamic and wide-ranging discipline, central to many of the technologies that underpin modern life. This MSc course provides a flexible pathway for students seeking to deepen their knowledge and technical skills, whether to prepare for a career in industry or to pursue further research.

You will build a strong foundation through core teaching that reflects the school’s active research strengths, while tailoring your learning to match your individual interests and career aspirations.

With a broad portfolio of advanced optional modules to choose from, you can shape your degree in a way that suits you best - either by maintaining a broad-based approach or by specialising in a focused area. Specialist areas available include power electronics and electrical machines, semiconductor and photonic engineering, digital electronics and advanced computing and mobile and data communications. These fields are closely aligned with current industry demands and global technological trends.

In addition to taught modules, you will undertake an individual research project, working alongside world-class academics and using state-of-the-art facilities. The project provides an opportunity to apply your knowledge to a real engineering problem, often in collaboration with industry or research centres.

Graduates of this programme are well-equipped for technical and leadership roles in sectors ranging from energy and transport to communications, electronics and manufacturing.

The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), helping to support your pathway towards Chartered Engineer status.
