Course Description

Designing highly innovative systems for signal processing is your passion, e.g. in biomedical applications or in telecommunication. Or your interest focuses on microsystems or robotics.

Having obtained a relevant bachelor’s degree, you want to further expand your knowledge and competencies in this field. Specialize in a chosen field, to prepare for a career in science or industry. The master’s programme in Electrical Engineering gives you this opportunity.

You learn to define your own paths in analysis, research and design. Cooperate in industrial design teams or scientific research groups. Join one of the research institutes of the University. Choose one of the five specializations: Biomedical Systems; Electronic System Design; Measurement and Control Engineering; Microsystems and Micro-electronics; Telecommunication Networks.

In national and international reviews, the Electrical Engineering programmes of the University of Twente have a very high rating according to both students and professionals.

The first year of the programme will depend on your specific background and will prepare you for the specialization of your choice in addition to core subjects. In the second year you will further extend your knowledge and skills within the chosen specialization, normally through both a preliminary project including research training and the final thesis project.

Entry Requirements

The general requirements for admission to a Master programme are:

– A relevant BSc degree(or equivalent) based on a programme of sufficient academic level and quality to be able to complete the MSc degree course you intend to pursue at the University of Twente.
 
– For applicants whose mother tongue is a language other than English:
1.Academic IELTS, overall band score of at least 6.5.
2.TOEFL, internet based (TOEFL-iBT) of at least 90. Please note that we do not accept “Institutional TOEFL” tests except for the one organized and certified by the Netherlands Education Support Office in Jakarta
3. Nationals of the People’s Republic of China please note: A “NUFFIC-certificate” must be sent to the University of Twente as proof of validity of your qualifications. In order to obtain the NUFFIC-certificate you will need to take the IELTS test or an internet based TOEFL (TOEFL-iBT). Note that, as of 1 June 2010, certificates will be issued by the Nuffic in the Hague instead of The Netherlands Education Support Office in Beijing. 4. Indonesian students should take their TOEFL test at one of the centres recognized by the NEC (Netherlands Education Support Offices) in Indonesia. A list of NEC registered centres in Indonesia can be found on the website: http://www.nesoindonesia.or.id.
 
Please note that exclusively nationals from the USA, U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada are exempted from the English test requirement.
