Masters Degree Description

Build your career as a Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner. Gain real-world experience, support patients’ care and learn evidence-based interventions. This course is for you if you’d like to train as a Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner (MHWP) in adult mental health services. As a MHWP, you’ll:

help patients manage their mental health
co-ordinate care
support patients to access the best possible community and professional resources
offer evidence-based psychological interventions.
This course is offered in partnership between the School of Psychology at the University of Sussex, one of the largest psychology units in the UK, and the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Entry Requirements

You should normally have an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree or above. No prior knowledge or experience in mental health is required but you should demonstrate an interest and desire to work with adults with complex mental health difficulties. You must also show an interest in developing skills fundamental to mental health care. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.

Student Destinations

When you successfully complete this course, your employer will provide you with ongoing training to keep your skills and knowledge up to date.

To support your practice and your wellbeing as a practitioner, you’ll be provided with regular supervision.
