MA Music Composition and Sound for Film and Games covers all the most relevant areas of soundtrack composition, creation and production.
It has been created to respond to the current demand for creative professionals who are able to provide both sound design and music content for the film and video game industries.
You will develop practical, industry-focussed skills and create work to showcase these as part of a professional portfolio.
Applicants should have one of the following:
A good honours degree (1st, 2:1 or 2:2) in Music, Music Technology, Music Performance, or a related discipline (or an equivalent international qualification)
or
A minimum of five years’ professional industry experience, assessed at the discretion of the Admissions Team or Programme Tutor.
All applicants are expected to demonstrate a solid prior knowledge of standard music studio equipment and its functions, along with practical experience using a range of common audio software platforms.
This course will enhance your employability, equipping you with the expertise and skills for you to work in a range of industry roles and related disciplines.
You will be ideally positioned to pursue a career in the thriving field of composition and sound design for film, television and interactive game.
Our graduates have also gone on to work in location recording, live sound, content creation, sound installation, music publishing, journalism, and teaching or purse their research interest at doctoral level.
Graduates have gone on to work for Splash Damage, Splice, Sweet Justice Sound, Videoheads, Zimmer Audio, Hertfordshire College of Music.
