Course Description

The Net Zero Building Services Engineering MSc provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles and applications of low energy building, digital twins, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and building services design. This enables graduates to contribute to the future of low energy solutions and artificial intelligence in the built environment.

The School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering has an international reputation, close links with industry and UK professional organisations, and has delivered programmes in building services engineering for over 40 years. The School’s close links with industry worldwide allow us to help you secure a placement that suits your needs and career prospects. Several graduates from this programme have been fully sponsored to carry out PhD research placements by our industry partners such as Tata Steel, Vexo International, Cundall and Mitsubishi Electric.

Entry Requirements

A 2:2 (55%) honours degree (or equivalent international qualification) in a subject related to the built environment. Membership of professional institution may be considered in lieu of degree.

The programme is designed to develop specialist expertise in building services engineering and building performance with a focus on energy and related areas.

Various firms in the industry, such as Pick Everard, Hilson Moran, Cundall, TREND Control Systems and IES visit us to deliver guest lectures, providing ideal opportunities for you to discuss employment prospects. Several of our industrial partners, such as Mitsubishi, Hilson Moran, and Vexo International also offer work placements for students to undertake their research dissertations.

Previous students have gone on to work for leading consulting engineering companies such as Arup, Atkins, Cundall, Foster & Partners, Hoare Lea, and Pick Everard.
