Masters Degree Description

Our DClinDent Oral Surgery course provides academic, professional, clinical and research training for dentists wanting to excel and specialise in dentistry.

On this course you will improve your diagnostic, treatment planning and practical expertise in oral surgery. You'll also improve your knowledge and skills in specialist evidence-based research.

Throughout the course you will move from simulated treatment to patient treatment in our own dental clinic. You'll be supported by renowned academics and specialist experts from around the UK and the world.

You will complete clinical training supplemented with seminars, lectures, journal clubs, complex multidisciplinary case-based discussions and research expertise.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should be an experienced dentist with a minimum of 3 years’ experience on commencement of the course
Applicants must be registered with an appropriate regulatory body and be a practising dentist
For all students for whom English is not their first language, proof of competence in English Language as evidenced by IELTS 6.5 (with no component score lower than 6.0) or equivalent. This must be submitted at the time of their application
All suitable applicants will be interviewed which will include a discussion of the proposed research area
Satisfactory Occupational Health Clearance and DBS are required
Applicants are required to submit a CV and portfolio of 10 clinical cases to detail academic and professional experience and two references, including one from a Senior Practitioner or Manager with their application.

Student Destinations

Having a DClinDent Oral Surgery will allow you to qualify as a specialist with a doctorate qualification. This could lead to future academic careers.

You can also apply for the membership examinations of the Royal Colleges for Oral Surgery to become a specialist.
