The PGCE in Primary Education with Mathematics is specifically designed to ensure that those who are successful will be recommended for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – the professional award required by all those who wish to teach in a maintained school.
You will focus on the teaching of the National Curriculum for primary schools and specialise in teaching Key Stages 1 and 2 whilst also having valuable opportunities to experience alternative educational settings such as Early Years, Secondary, SEND and transition. The course will also provide you with valuable understanding of early years practice in mathematics as well as the transition/practices into Key Stage 3.
For example Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc) etc. or similar . They are sometimes known as ‘undergraduate’ or ‘first‘ degrees.
To receive the government bursary, you will need an A-level in Mathematics. A GCSE in Mathematics (grade 5/B+) alone will not attract the bursary.
Please note we do NOT accept GCSE Short Courses, GCSE English Literature, GCSE Equivalent Tests from other institutions or organisations, Key Skills Level 2 or Functional Skills Level 2.
