PGCE Secondary Education with Physical Education

Specific Course Entry Requirements

• Degree in a relevant discipline- Minimum of 2:1 (or equivalent) although a 2.2 will be considered.
• A commitment to learning in, through and about Physical Education.
• A commitment to the development of young people.
• An awareness of teaching Physical Education in a school: at a minimum, through recent classroom observation or leadership activities.
• Have passed the Professional Skills Tests in Literacy and Numeracy.

General entry requirements

In addition to the specific course entry requirements, all PGCE applicants will need to meet the following.

• Recent secondary school classroom observation experience.
• To be able to clearly and accurately communicate both spoken and written English.
• Candidates must take part in individual and a group interviews with representatives from schools as well as University tutors.

GCSE Requirements

In addition to the general entry requirements applicant will need to meet the following requirments:

• Grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics GCSE examinations or equivalent qualifications.
• Please note that Level 2 Key Skills in Application of Numbers and Communication or Certificates in Adult Literacy or Numeracy, are not sufficient to meet the entry requirements to a PGCE programme.

Fees for UK students: £9,000 per annum. Fees for International students: £10,500 per annum.
