PGCE Secondary Physics (including School Direct) with QTS

  • DeadlineStudy Details:

    PGCE 1 year full-time

Course Description

Why study Secondary Physics with us?

The course allows you to teach Secondary Science with a focus on your specialism. You will develop your subject knowledge, practical skills and pedagogy in all aspects of science at KS3, whilst also developing your expertise in your preferred discipline of Physics at KS4 and KS5 depending on your degree and experience.

Science enhanced with Physics

There are a wide range of degrees which would give a suitable level of subject knowledge. However, enthusiastic scientists with a reasonable knowledge of Physics can follow a booster/enhancement course prior to starting the PGCE. These last from 10 days to six months but applications need a recommendation from a PGCE tutor. The University of Chester offers 10 day and 20 day booster courses.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will normally:

  • hold or be expected to gain a minimum 2:1 degree
  • have relevant experience in state schools (minimum 10 days) and must have some experience of working with young people
  • have GCSE grade C in English Language and Maths
  • have to pass the NCTL skills tests in literacy and numeracy by June 2018
