Masters Degree Description

This intensive, award bearing course is designed to prepare you to sit the SRA centralised SQE 1 and 2 assessments through in-person teaching, targeted resources and assessments that mirror the centralised assessment. While your performance in course assessments will determine your final NTU grade, you must still independently sit and pass the SRA centralised assessments to qualify as a solicitor. Please note that the course fee does not cover the cost of sitting these assessments.

Entry Requirements

Students who enrol on this course will normally be required to have a 2:2 from their law degree or have acquired the equivalent knowledge of the key principles of law through a recognised course.

Module Details

SQE 1:

You’ll study the six subject areas assessed in the SRA’s SQE 1 Functioning Legal Knowledge Assessments, integrating substantive law with procedural law and ethics. These are:

  • Professional Legal Skills, Conduct and Solicitors’ Accounts
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Business Law and Practice
  • Wills and the Administration of Estates and Trusts
  • Criminal Law and Practice
  • Property Law and Practice


SQE 2:

This course has been carefully designed to provide you with a progressive, integrated path to mastering the practical legal skills tested in SQE2. From day one, everything you do is focused on preparing you to succeed in those assessments with confidence and clarity.

You'll develop the six core legal skills required for SQE2:

  • Client interview and attendance note / legal analysis
  • Advocacy
  • Case and matter analysis
  • Legal research
  • Legal writing
  • Legal drafting
