This programme draws on the latest research in synthetic biology, (bio)engineering and biotechnology, providing opportunities to develop the skills and knowledge needed for developing innovative solutions to pressing global challenges in medicine, manufacturing and agriculture.
These entry requirements are for the 2026-27 academic year and requirements for future academic years may differ. Entry requirements for the 2027-28 academic year will be published on 1 Oct 2026.
A UK 2:1 honours degree, or its international equivalent, with a strong background in molecular biology. You should also have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: biotechnology, biochemistry, genetics or related sciences, with evidence of quantitative and computer science skills.
We may also consider your application if you have a background in engineering (particularly bioengineering), physics or mathematics and can show evidence of molecular biology knowledge.

It is not possible to take both 'Principles of Biotechnology' and 'Metagenomics'.
