MA Applied Translation Studies

Course Description

This MA is designed as an academic qualification for prospective or practising professional translators, with UEA being home to the British Centre for Literary Translation.  The course allows you to apply the theory of translation in a wide range of practical ways, offering opportunities to expand your experience in preparation for a move to become a professional translator. Students from across the globe are welcomed to this degree, making seminars a chance to engage staff and students with each other’s languages and cultures.

Entry Requirements

Open to applicants with a good Honours degree – UK BA (Hons) 2:1 or international equivalent – in a Humanities or Social Sciences subject.

We welcome applications from students whose first language is not English. To ensure such students benefit from postgraduate study, we require evidence of proficiency in English. Our usual entry requirements are as follows:

  • IELTS: 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in all components)
  • PTE (Pearson): 62 (minimum 55 in all components)
