    MSc 1 year full-time

Course Description

Study the theory, design and management of key civil engineering subjects in a zero-carbon economy.

From geotechnical to water, structural or materials engineering, study a master’s that focuses on the future of civil engineering in industry and the world. Taught in the context of a future zero-carbon economy, you’ll learn the theory and design aspects to help you navigate the new challenges up ahead successfully.

Throughout the course, a mix of theory, practical and collaborative activities help you advance your professional, design and research skills. Part of this is working in multidisciplinary teams to solve the big problems facing the world right now. You’ll also have the opportunity to carry out a large research project with support and supervision from our academic specialists.

To help prepare you for the workplace, some of your learning experience and design work will be with students on other construction-related masters’ here at Bath. This brings you into contact with a more diverse set of people and skills, echoing what it is like to work professionally in industry.

Entry Requirements

You should have a first or strong second-class Bachelor’s honours degree or international equivalent.

To apply for this programme you should have an undergraduate degree in an appropriate subject such as civil engineering, structural engineering, or another subject that includes relevant civil engineering components (e.g. general engineering or engineering geology with civil infrastructure design experience). Students without a civil engineering first degree may not have the required background knowledge for some of the optional units, so may have restricted choice.

We may make an offer based on a lower grade if you can provide evidence of your suitability for the degree.
