Course Description

The Postgraduate Diploma in Community and District Nursing Specialist Practice is the NM C approved programme that prepares practitioners for the challenges of meeting complex care needs in the community in collaboration with key partners.

 

Students are able to complete a dissertation stage module or a service improvement module (masters stage award) on completion of the
postgraduate diploma to gain a full MSc in Community and District Nursing Specialist Practice.

 

Themes within the programme will develop highly professional, autonomous community nurses who are well prepared to support patients with acute, complex and palliative conditions in their own homes and other community settings.

Entry Requirements

  • an undergraduate degree in a health related subject or evidence of ability to study at level 7 (pre-course interview and assessment)
  • registered nurse and/or midwife on either part 1 or part 2 of the NMC register
  • support from a relevant employing organisation for clinical experience and study
  • work in a relevant clinical setting
  • support of recognised practice teacher
  • enhanced DBS check
