PG Dip Community Specialist Practitioner

Course Description

The course aims to promote the evolution of an adaptable, reflexive and responsive practitioner who promotes the highest standards of client health care. The course incorporates the key principles of specialist practice within the domains of clinical practice; care and programme management; clinical practice development and clinical practice leadership. The course comprises of 50% theory and 50% practice.

Entry Requirements

All applicants must have:-

An effective appropriate 1st level registration on the NMC professional in respect of the route they wish to take, as follows:

  • General Practice Nursing: entry on sub part 1: Adult – RN1 or RNA or Child – RN8 or RNC
  • Community Children’s Nursing: entry on sub part 1: Child – RN8 or RNC
  • Community Nursing in the Home: entry on sub part 1: Adult – RN1 or RNA.

The equivalent of at least one year’s post-registration practice experience.
Experience of practicing within a healthcare environment for a minimum of 18 hours per week (or equivalent part-time) clinical activity.
Hold the equivalent of 360 credits of which 120 must be at Level 6 (degree level) in a relevant Nursing Practice or Social Sciences related subject.
