Both Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental Management are increasingly important for a wide range of organisations. This specialist Masters provides the practical research skills and management background for you to work in these areas.

You’ll examine theory, evidence and practice in CSR as well as the governance, assessment and practical resolution of environmental problems. You will combine the study of scientific, legal, policy and risks associated with sustainability with accounting, ethical and organisation aspects of business.

Module Details:

For the Masters you will need to take 100 credits of taught modules alongside a dissertation worth 80 credits.

There are five core modules, amounting to 60 of your 100 required credits:

  • Corporate and Social Responsibility (20 credits)
  • Business and the Environment (10 credits)
  • Environmental Impact Assessment (10 credits)
  • Qualitative Methods (10 credits)
  • Quantitative Methods (10 credits)

You’ll also choose 40 credits from a range of optional modules:

  • Business Information Systems (10 credits)
  • Financial Management (10 credits)
  • Social and Environmental Accounting (20 credits)
  • International Political Economy of Business (20 credits)
  • Ethical Marketing and Sustainability (20 credits)

These modules will run in 2016-17. Modules may change in later years to reflect the latest research.


Entry Requirements

You should have at least a 2:1 degree in a relevant subject such as management, finance, environmental science or geography. If you have a 2:2 degree in a relevant subject as well as additional experience, such as work in environmental management, then we will also welcome your application. You’ll need a good level of mathematical or statistical ability in order to follow the quantitative and financial modules: you can demonstrate this with an element of economics, accounting or finance in your degree.
