Course Description

Our MEd Enhanced Educational Practice is an innovative, flexible, modular course tailored to your particular needs.

Using practical, task-oriented material and activities, a strong emphasis is placed on research to encourage sound critical reflection.

Our course is aligned to the Higher Education Academy (HEA) standard for teaching and learning in Higher Education; to the Scottish Social Services Council’s codes of practice; and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards. It is ideally suited if you work within education and lifelong learning or within the following wider sectors:

  • childcare
  • healthcare
  • social work

Entry Requirements

An undergraduate degree in a related discipline.

Module Details

Our course will broaden and enhance your understanding of important concepts, theories and debates in education, and encourage you to think critically about these matters. It will also enable you to reflect on your own professional practice in a more informed way, and will foster critical awareness of educational methodology to enable you to evaluate the methods used in educational research, and apply critical awareness within your own research.

The Postgraduate Certificate comprises a core module in the area of Critical Self-evaluation and Development and a choice of two modules relevant to your professional context from an approved list.

The Diploma phase consists of a core module in Educational Research and a choice of two optional modules which should relate to your professional context.

Should you wish to pursue the Master’s phase then this comprises of a dissertation in consultation with the course leader.
