This course suits natural resource specialists and agriculturalists and those from a social science background who work or are interested in and wish to study development issues, sustainability and the environment; the programme addresses the interaction between environment and development; it analyses policy processes at local, national and international levels, as played out by a large cast of actors, such as: policy makers; politicians; business administrators; rural and urban resource users; a number of critical and constructive skills, analytical techniques and contextual knowledge are developed to advance an understanding of these processes; the main focus of the course is on the political ecology approach to understanding debates and policy processes underpinning responses to environmental and natural resource problems.
Good social sciences degree, 2:1 or equivalent; candidates from other disciplines are considered; plus satisfactory evidence of ability in English language if a non-native speaker.
