Course Description

Our MSc Financial Leadership is a unique online programme which has been designed to give those with a relevant accountancy qualification, the opportunity to obtain a Masters degree, especially those working in a management role with the potential and expectation to develop into a leadership position. It focuses on teaching you to explore the various concepts and contexts for leadership and determine the most appropriate way to add value to your business in a professional context. We equip students to become successful, well-informed, reflective leaders with professional practice being at the cornerstone of this programme. The programme is delivered online with regular opportunities to interact live with your tutor, support team and other students. There are also opportunities for face-to-face interaction at our centres in London, Birmingham and Manchester. It is aimed at holders of ACCA, ICAEW or CIMA accountancy qualifications who will be granted 90 credits Accreditation for Prior Learning (APL) and can then study a further 90 credits across four modules, as well as a professional practice project. On successful completion, you will then be awarded an MSc in Financial Leadership. We would normally expect the programme to take a little over a year to complete. You will graduate from this programme as a productive, reflective practitioner, who is able to manage your own development confidently and add value to your business. Employability skills are key to all programmes offered at BPP University and this programme includes modules in leading and influencing, project management and managing a professional firm, as well as a professional practice project. The transferable skills and knowledge you will develop during the programme could help to provide a significant boost to your career. How the programme is taught: Study Programme: The programme is taught online to provide flexibility. There are regular opportunities for live interaction with tutors, support staff and other students via webinars, discussion boards and other means. The programme begins with part of the Professional Practice module. This will serve to introduce you to the key concepts in the programme and start the process of considering your final project. You will then study four modules, including the two core modules: Leading & Influencing and Understanding Value. A student who exits the programme after completing these four modules may be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Financial Leadership. The duration of this study is likely to be about a year. Work on your Professional Practice Project will commence alongside these modules and will then be completed following their successful completion. The project will be assessed by a portfolio of evidence including your preparation for the project, your project report, and reflections on lessons learned and carried forward. Finally, you will be interviewed about your work to confirm authenticity and your achievement of the Programme-level Learning Outcomes. On successful completion of this, you will be awarded an MSc in Financial Leadership. The whole programme is expected to take a little over a year to complete. Entry Requirements

Students wishing to apply for this programme will have one of the following recognised accounting qualifications: • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) • Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Holders of one of these recognised qualifications will be granted 90 credits’ Accreditation for Prior Learning (APL). For applicants for whom English is not their first language, and whose first degree was not studied in English, an English qualification such as IELTS at 6.5 overall with a score of no lower than a 6 in any one element. Applicants need to be in recognised employment and to demonstrate some level of support from their employer, not necessarily financial, for their studies.

Module Details

The MSc Financial Leadership consists of 180 credits at Level 7, made up as follows: 1. You will be given credit based on your existing accountancy qualifications up to 90 credits The remaining 90 credits are as follows: 2. Core (30 credits) • Leading and Influencing (15 credits) • Understanding Value (15 credits) 3. Optional streams Choose one stream (30 credits) a. Commercial • Enterprise Risk Management (15 credits) • Project Management (15 credits) b. Professional Firm • Managing Client Engagements (15 credits) • Managing in a Professional Firm (15 credits) Professional Practice Project (30 credits) Please note that The Professional Practice Project module will be run throughout the programme. A student who exits the programme after completing four 15-credit modules may be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Financial Leadership.
