Course Description

You will work within the six domains of the NMC Standards of proficiency for midwives (2019), that confer eligibility to register with the NMC as a Registered Midwife.

This course covers the advanced broad-based education that is technology informed and intellectually challenged through innovative teaching, learning and assessment approaches that prepares you to practice safely, effectively and with resilience so that the public health and protection of the public is assured.

It will provide you with a high-quality learning environment in practice settings where you learn, with and through peers, lecturers, birthing people and their families, and practitioners within a multi-cultural and multi-professional learning community.

You’ll be linking theory and practice learning of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to ensure learners develop evidence-enhanced, contemporary practice, within a case-based learning curriculum. You will also developed global perspectives on midwifery care and its application to their practice, to enhance awareness of environmental, social and political issues, alongside the development of cultural competency.

Overall the course will lay the foundations for lifelong learning through the development of research, scholarship, entrepreneurialism, and professional practice developing your ability to lead, innovate, evaluate, implement and enhance the care of birthing people and their families.
