MSc/PGCert One year FT & Two years PT

Course Description

We are proud to have been awarded an IoPPN Excellence Award in 2018 for student satisfaction in the Postgraduate Taught Education Survey (PTES).

Learn how research has developed our understanding of mental health. Then explore how these discoveries can be used to help prevent, diagnose or develop new treatments.

Whether you’ve recently finished your undergraduate degree or already have a few years of experience, we’ll help you explore a range of methodologies including clinical trials, neuroimaging and genetics.

Key benefits

  • Join a course with a 100% overall student satisfaction (postgraduate experience taught survey 2017)
  • Learn from our vast expertise and experience with small class sizes
  • Complete a clinical placement working with young people, inpatients, people with personality disorders or other groups affected by mental health issues
  • Develop research skills, apply them to your dissertation and join one of the IoPNN research teams
  • Study surrounded by the expertise and facilities of the Centre for Neuroimaging Sciences, MRC Social & Genetic Developmental Psychiatry Centre, Maurice Wohl Neuroscience Centre, and the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre

Teaching

To help you get the most out of this course, we make your learning interactive. Not only will you join us at lectures, you’ll explore ideas and discuss research at seminars, tutorials and computer lab sessions too.

Our small class sizes might seem intimidating at first. But with a friendly community around you, you’ll quickly realise that everyone is open to hearing different opinions and learning from others’ experiences.

We’re confident this style of teaching works because our students consistently rate the course highly.
