Arts, Business and Creativity MA

Study Details

MA: 12 months full-time, 24 months part-time

This course provides an entrepreneurial education for creative graduates. It will suit those who want to start, develop and manage a business or work freelance in a creative industry. Newcastle University Business School developed the course in collaboration with the School of Arts and Cultures and key creative industry stakeholders.

The course examines the theoretical aspects of creativity and the creative industries within their social, cultural, economic, political and increasingly, international contexts. At the same time, it provides students with a setting to start-up a business and to engage on real projects with regional stakeholders.

NBS8035 Understanding and Managing Creativity
NBS8062 Research Methods (ICE/ABC/E-Business)
NBS8241 Arts, Business, Creativity Extended Project (Dissertation)
NBS8601 Understanding and Managing Creative Enterprises

Modules might change for your year of entry.

Entry Requirements

 2:1 honours degree, or international equivalent, preferably in any subject which provides a basis for involvement in the creative industries, such as:

  • media
  • design
  • fine arts
  • music or music technology
  • film
  • photography
  • creative writing
  • computer graphics
  • acting

You will be required to demonstrate in your application, experience within the creative industries, whether it be in a professional, voluntary or unpaid capacity.

We will also consider your application on an individual basis if you have a 2:2 honours degrees or non-standard qualifications and/or relevant professional experience. 

International Students

To study this course you need to meet our Band 6 English Language requirements:

Direct Entry: IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in all sub-skills)

If you have lower English Language scores, you may be accepted onto a Pre-sessional English Language course.
