Interpreting and Translating - 1 year Chinese MA

MA 1 year full-time

Equip yourself to work as a professional interpreter and/or translator on this highly respected master's, which can include a placement.

Our MA Interpreting and Translating is designed to give you strong grounding and all the practical skills you need to work as a conference interpreter and professional translator at an international level.

Semester 1

  • English to Chinese consecutive interpreting
  • Chinese to English consecutive interpreting
  • Chinese to English simultaneous interpreting
  • English to Chinese simultaneous interpreting
  • Chinese/English liaison and public service interpreting
  • Chinese to English translation 1
  • English to Chinese translation 1

Semester 2

  • English to Chinese consecutive interpreting

  • Chinese/English liaison and public service interpreting

Students must select two optional units from the combination of options available in Semester 1 and Semester 2.

Entry Requirements

You should have a bachelor's honours degree or international equivalent, typically a 2:1 or above.

To apply for the Chinese pathway, you must normally have mother tongue competence in Chinese or English.

To apply for the Russian pathway, you must normally have mother tongue competence in Russian or English.
