MPA Full-time and Part-time

This MPA degree prepares future leaders and decision makers working in policy to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by today's fast-evolving digital technologies.

The world is changing rapidly and understanding the ways that digital technologies impact the global economy, national security, healthcare, employment, and human rights is an essential skill for the next decade. Cyber security, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) pose challenges to established ideas about privacy, security, and equitable societal progress. Who owns (or will own) our personal data? What kind of biases could be inadvertently built into algorithmic decision-making systems? How can we aggregate the huge volumes of data generated to address global challenges? Maximising digital technology opportunities while not forfeiting established principles and rights will require people who think differently and can exercise imagination, sound reasoning and a vision for the future.

This exciting new multi-disciplinary program is the first of its kind and we will accept our inaugural cohort of students for a start in September 2018. We have designed an innovative and flexible programme to ensure that our graduates can step into a range of professional roles where they are required to develop strategies, policies and guidelines and collaborate across public and private sectors working with digital technology.

This program is linked to the Digital Policy Laboratory in STEaPP and draws on the expertise of this dynamic and diverse group of world-leading researchers.
