English Literary Studies : Film Studies MA

Study Details

MA 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time

The Film Studies Pathway on the MA in English Literary Studies aims to provide students interested in American cinema with a thorough grounding in debates about Hollywood, its history, its industrial structures and its films in the post-war era, as well as in debates about critical and historical methodologies fundamental to Film Studies as a whole.

The pathway also provides students with comprehensive training in researching and writing about film and is supported by rich and significant film research resources in the form of The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum. This is one of Britain's largest public collections of material related to the development of the cinema internationally, with particular strengths in British and American cinemas. The Centre is a vital and unique resource for film scholarship in Britain, and is openly accessible for all Exeter students.
