Study Details

PhD 3 years Full-time, PhD 6 years Part-time

We offer both a PhD in Psychology and a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroimaging. We provide a stimulating yet supportive atmosphere, combined with access to research facilities that are second-to-none. Our research postgraduates work closely with leading researchers in their chosen field and their projects are often published in top international journals.

We regard a research degree as an apprenticeship, providing training in the knowledge and skills required to be an independent researcher. Whilst you will acquire in-depth knowledge and a specialised skill set through conducting exciting research projects alongside your supervisors, you will also receive broader training in research skills and psychological knowledge, that are widely applicable to both academic and non academic settings.

Entry Requirements

Applicants require a UK 2.1 or international equivalent in the relevant subject. The first step in applying is to establish if there is a member of faculty with shared research interests, offering supervision. Supervision is offered in a number of areas of psychological research, but please look at the research and faculty webpages to see the research interests of individual faculty members.
If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to.
