Study Details

MSc 1 year Full-time

The programme teaches microelectronics design and semiconductor technology with a focus on nanoscale technology, which are key enabling technologies for almost any existing electronic device, including everything from mobile phones to cars and entertainment systems. Engineers continue to enhance the performance of these devices in terms of their size, speed, reliance and power consumption, hence, microelectronics is an important industry. This course combines hands-on experience with scientific theory to develop industry-relevant skills in nanoscale electronics and VLSI design, simulation and verification, in order to prepare graduates for entry into research degrees or industry practice.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are expected to hold an appropriate Honours degree at 2.1 standard or the equivalent from a university recognised by the University of York. This degree should be in physical sciences, engineering or a related discipline. Graduates of any discipline who can demonstrate an understanding of electronic systems, fundamental mathematical skills, and have a level of experience/aptitude for technical/practical aspects of electronic design will be considered.
