Study Details

MPhil 2 years Full-time, PhD 3 years Full-time

The School offers a unique interdisciplinary research degree programme, made possible by the collaboration between the three internationally excellent PPE departments.

As a research student within the School, you are affiliated to the department of your main supervisor, and will have access to the facilities and teaching opportunities from that department. You will usually follow a programme of study offered by your home department, in agreement with your supervisor.

You will also normally (but not necessarily) have a second supervisor in one of the other departments, depending on the interdisciplinary nature of your research. In addition, you can take modules from the other departments, as appropriate for your individual training needs and the needs of your project.

Entry Requirements

To be admitted to the MPhil/PhD directly, you need a strong academic background - usually at least a 2.1 in your first degree and a good Masters level qualification in an appropriate discipline.
If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to.
