MA 1 year Full-time, MA 2 years Part-time

This innovatative Masters degree combines advanced study of social media with practical training in a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods. The programme furnishes students with skills in social research that will enable them to pursue a future career in a wide range of social media and data analysis contexts. The York Sociology Department is the ideal place for those who wish to learn more about social media and research.

The degree consists of six taught modules and a research dissertation. Each student is assigned to a member of staff who acts as their supervisor throughout the degree.

Entry Requirements

An undergraduate degree (usually at 2.1 or above) in sociology or cognate discipline, or a professional qualification or relevant professional experience.
If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to.
