Study Details

MPhil 2 years Full-time, PhD 6 years Part-time, PhD 3 years Full-time

Research in the Department is focussed around four substantive research clusters and research units: Gender Sexuality and Inequalities; Language and Social Interaction; Science Health and Technology; Culture Values and Practices. You can choose whether to work with a particular member of staff on independent research or you can conduct your research within one of the department's research units.

Entry Requirements

Applicants require a UK 2:1 or international equivalent in the relevant subject. Normally, you will have a good undergraduate degree in a social science discipline, or in a discipline related to the research area in which you intend to work. If you are applying for a research degree, you are asked on the application form to provide a brief outline of your proposed research area.
If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to.
