Study Details

PhD 3 years Full-time, PhD 6 years Part-time

This programme allows students to devise and develop a creative project in the fields of theatre, film and television under the supervision of appropriate members of staff. In addition to a portfolio of creative work, students will also produce an analytic thesis on the substantive intellectual issues entailed in the project and a reflective log or portfolio relating to the creative process.

The programme is founded on three main components: an academic dissertation; a professional portfolio or reflective journal and a portfolio of creative work. The combination of creative work, portfolio and academic dissertation ensures that candidates will have to prove both their critical and practical skills.

Entry Requirements

Candidates will have completed a first degree to at least upper second class standard. In addition, candidates will normally have a Masters degree or at least three years professional experience in theatre, film or television production.
If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to.
