The MA degree can be taken full-time over one year, or part-time over two years. The taught component of this programme consists of two compulsory core modules, Difference, Diversity & Change and Work, Politics & Culture; the choice of two options from a range which is updated annually; two research modules: Qualitative Methods and Interdisciplinary Methods in Women's Studies and a dissertation. You will be allocated a supervisor for your dissertation which must be submitted towards the end of your final year.

The Centre for Women's Studies offers a Post Graduate Diploma programme for students who wish to follow the taught MA course but not write the dissertation. The diplomas are available in all 4 courses. Please see the individual MA programmes for details of taught courses.

Entry Requirements

Candidates for the MA will normally be required to have a good first degree (an upper second class degree or its equivalent), although applications from those with other qualifications may be considered on their merits. Applications are also welcomed from mature students and those returning to education.
If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to.
