Tackling the Blues: MSc Sport and Mental Health bursary in collaboration with Everton Football Club

Tackling the Blues is a sport, physical activity and education-based programme targeting young people aged 6–16 who are experiencing, or are at risk of, developing mental illness. The programme to date has engaged over 650 young people.

In collaboration with Everton in the Community (the official charity of Everton Football Club) and funded by the UEFA Foundation for Children, Edge Hill University is pleased to offer a fully funded fees (UK/EU) bursary for an appropriately qualified candidate wishing to pursue research linked to the Tackling the Blues sport and mental health programme for children and young people.

Join an innovative Masters degree, delivered in association with Everton in the Community which provides a unique interdisciplinary insight into the relationship between sport, physical activity and mental health. The award is available for September 2019 entry and will enable the successful candidate to:

·       Enrol full-time on, and study all aspects of, the MSc Sport, Physical Activity and Mental Health programme
·       Undertake applied research linked to Tackling the Blues and share knowledge of its impact on the mental health of children and young people with other sports organisations in Europe
·       Play an active role in the development of monitoring, evaluation and impact-related activities linked to Tackling the Blues, including for its delivery in Europe
·       Assist in the development of external national and international partnerships focused on sport, mental health and education
·       Disseminate learning and evidence of the impact of Tackling the Blues to other researchers, professionals and policy-makers through dedicated public engagement events in the UK and Europe
·       Obtain valuable work-related experience in sport, mental health and education whilst working with researchers and other professionals in the UK and Europe
·       Be supported to pursue opportunities to publish their research in academic and other outlets
