You could also have the opportunity for a workplace assignment where you can put your skills to the test and solve complex problems.

Industry links

Our courses are designed with industry experts, with some receiving accreditations from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.  Shipping industry experts are also involved in the mentoring of work-based projects, further enhancing the value of student learning. Taught by a dedicated team with a wide range of experience and knowledge, and as part of a large cohort of students from around the globe, you will develop a truly international network of professional peers and connections. To complement their studies, past students have had the opportunity to visit key maritime organisations, such as the ports of Southampton, Antwerp and Rotterdam, the International Maritime Organization and the Baltic Exchange.

Strong maritime community

Being located in the port city of Southampton, the University has a long maritime heritage, and subsequently global reputation in delivery respected maritime courses. Whether you’re studying in the city itself or through our distance-learning course, you will benefit from our maritime community, locally or globally. Our annual maritime conference will help you develop your professional connections, bringing Solent alumni and senior professionals from the industry on campus to talk to students about their early career experiences, help develop employability, and more.
