Our courses are designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge for a successful career in health. In the Complete University Guide 2024, we ranked 1st for Graduate Prospects – On Track.

Established in 1733, we were the first university to offer an accelerated four-year medicine degree open to graduates of all disciplines and have the longest running Physician Associate Studies course in the UK. By studying with us, you will join a community that is making a difference.

Being based in the vibrant neighbourhood of Tooting, in South West London, we are both part of a global city and a thriving local community. High impact research, improving healthcare for everyone

In REF 2021, we ranked joint 8th in the UK for research impact by the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. Our researchers tackle some of the greatest challenges to global health in the 21st century. Our four research institutes focus on molecular and clinical sciences, infection and immunity, advancing population health and medical and biomedical education. This provides a stimulating environment to pursue a research degree, with programmes available at MPhil/PhD and MD(Res) levels.

Join the path of accomplished alumni

Our alumni include historical pioneers such as Edward Jenner, who created the world’s first vaccine against smallpox, to more recent alumni such as Professor Hannah Valantine (MBBS), first Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity at the National Institute of Health in Washington, DC.

Funding and scholarships

We offer several scholarships each year for outstanding students across our postgraduate taught courses, as well as project specific funding for our research degree programmes. Many of our students are funded by the NHS Learning Support Fund and the Postgraduate Master’s Loan. Further guidance on financial support can be found on our website. We are also members of the Chevening and GREAT scholarship schemes.
