We’ll give you the ability to critically evaluate current research, to plan, carry out and communicate your own research, and to propose new approaches to current developments in biomedical science. Each week you will look at a current research publication or article concerning biomedical sciences where you will choose to present a summary of the text or contribute to the discussion.
Your analytical skills are developed by carrying out a series of data handling exercises, using appropriate statistical tests and by carrying out a literature review.
Requirements:Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree in the cognate subjects of Biomedical Science, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, or a clinically orientated course that contains a substantial biomedical science component, at least a second class honours degree in a non-cognate subject supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied
IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.

Advanced Professional Practice and Research
This module begins the process of planning for the research project. You will develop a proposal and participate in a mock ethics approval panel.
Research Project
The Research Project module (120 credits) will be carried out from the start of Semester 2 to September. Project topics will be closely linked to the areas of research expertise of the team.
