The PGCert Traumatic Stress Studies is a flexible course divided in the Introductory module, Foundation Trauma and Advanced Trauma modules within 2 academic years.
Run by the Charlie Waller Institute (CWI) this Postgraduate Certificate comprises three 20-credit modules; the Introductory module, the Foundation skills module and the Advanced Trauma module. Each module is assessed and must be passed for the Postgraduate Certificate to be awarded. Attendance of 80% is required for each module if being assessed. Each module can be taken as a stand-alone and each of the training days of the Advanced Trauma module can be booked as individual workshops.
You are normally required to have a relevant Honours degree in a discipline connected to mental health.
The exception to this is the PYMIN1 module, Introduction to Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment, where NO specific qualification or experience of CBT is required.
If the applicant has enough knowledge of CBT, he/she can opt to do the PYMIN3 (APEL) examination instead of the PYMIN1 (Introduction to CBT).
