Masters Degree Description

On our masters in artificial intelligence, you’ll study topics such as machine learning, robotics science and generative AI. You’ll learn to design intelligent systems that adapt and learn from dataequipping you with highly sought-after skills in a competitive, fast-moving industry.

Beyond technical expertiseyou’ll also develop valuable employability skills, including problem-solving, teamwork, report writing, and communication. You’ll also undertake an independent research project on a topic of your choice - designing, implementing and evaluating a substantial piece of AI work, documented in a written dissertation. 

As the UK’s second-largest tech hub, Manchester is an ideal location to study computing. You’ll have opportunities to connect with a booming tech community through guest lectures, sponsored projects and work placements. 

You can study the course full-time over one year or with an optional industry placement year, extending its duration to two years. A placement gives you the chance to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting, specialise in your area of interest, and build your professional network. 

While it’s your responsibility to search and apply for a placement, you’ll receive support from academic staff and the University’s Careers and Employability Service to help you find a placement aligned with your goals. 

Entry Requirements

A UK honours degree (or equivalent) in a STEM discipline with a quantitative component. 

Overseas applicants will require IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 with no less than 5.5 in any category, or an equivalent accepted English qualification.
