Masters Degree Description

Become an inspirational and inclusive secondary teacher in Physical Education– developing your subject knowledge, creative skills and professional experience to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Please note, this course will close for international applicants on Friday 27th March 2026. This course will close for home applicants on Friday 17th July 2026.
You’ll join our dynamic Sheffield Institute of Education and undertake work-related learning in schools and the wider community. This course provides the foundation for a successful career in physical education teaching – helping you understand how pupils learn, how to manage behaviour effectively and how to promote inclusive, engaging PE. Alongside gaining Qualified Teacher Status, you’ll also graduate with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and 60 Masters-level credits.

Entry Requirements

An honours degree (normally 2.2 or above) or equivalent which includes substantial elements of physical education or sports related studies.
Normally GCSE grade C or Grade 4 in English Language and mathematics, or equivalent. Where applicants have achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above in English literature only, we will look for further evidence of a breadth of achievement in English. We will consider applicants who are in the process of obtaining the relevant GCSEs.
