MA Broadcast Journalism: Theory and Practice

Course Description

This MA degree designed to give students both core practical, (interviewing, reporting, video production) and theoretical skills in the field of journalism and electronic communications – equipping them for work within the communications industry, or an academic career. Students will develop the ability to reflect critically on the nature and limitations of news coverage, gaining practical broadcast and journalistic skills. Legal and ethical legal concerns for media professionals will also be explored.

Entry Requirements

Open to applicants with a good Honours degree – UK BA (Hons) 2:1 or equivalent – in a Humanities or Social Sciences subject.

We welcome applications from students whose first language is not English. To ensure such students benefit from postgraduate study, we require evidence of proficiency in English. Our usual entry requirements are as follows:

  • IELTS: 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in all components)
  • PTE (Pearson): 62 (minimum 55 in all components)
