Develop industry-standard skills in databases, programming and web development on a masters for non-computing graduates, plus advanced specialisms in either software development or data management.
Designed for graduates without a computing background, the course builds your fundamental computing skills, before specialising at an advanced level in either software development or data management. You'll also develop your research, critical thinking and professional skills through practical projects and real-world applications, preparing you for careers in various computing roles.
Please note: you can apply to this course from 23 October 2025. Until then, explore the course and see what Sheffield Hallam has to offer.
Normally you need a 2:2 honours degree or above in any discipline from a UK university or equivalent from an overseas university. You may also be able to claim credit points which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete your qualification at Sheffield Hallam.
We also consider applicants who do not meet these academic criteria but have several years' experience and a keen interest in computing.
Overseas applicants from countries whose first language is not English must normally produce evidence of competence in English. An IELTS score of 6.0 with 5.5 in all skills (or equivalent) is the standard for non-native speakers of English. If your English language skill is currently below an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills we recommend you consider a Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve an equivalent English level.
